Teaching English as a Second Language

Seneca’s English Language Institute (ELI) offers a TESL program offers both academic rigor and practical application and is attached to a very large, expertly staffed EAP (English for Academic Purposes) language program. The practical, hands-on, innovative curriculum builds your ability to diagnose your levels in reference to the Canadian Language Benchmarks and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons that support the development and evaluation of all language learning skills. Our fully arranged integrated practicum includes Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes that uniquely position candidates to experience different types of teaching. They also provide connections for employment upon graduation. Practicum placements require a current Vulnerable Sector Police Check. The ELI TESL program has been certified by TESL Ontario and by TESL Canada.
