Admission Requirements - Mature Applicants

If you don’t have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or a General Education Diploma and if you are at least 19 years of age, you may apply to most programs, even if you do not have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, by applying as a mature applicant. Note: applicants to degree programs must be 21 years of age.

If you have an OSSD and the majority of credits in Grade 11 and 12 are at the C or U levels (or before 2003 at the G, A or OAC levels), you are considered a high school graduate rather than a Mature Applicant.

Pre-Admission Testing for Mature Applicants

Once you have applied as a mature applicant, you may be invited to write the Mature Applicant Entrance Test(s). Please note the following:

  • if the program you applied for requires Grade 12 English and/or Mathematics, you will write English and/or Mathematics tests.
  • if the program you applied for requires Grade 12 Chemistry, Physics or Biology, you will be asked to submit transcripts showing that you have successfully completed these required courses.

For more information, see the Admissions FAQs and Seneca's English proficiency requirements for mature applicants.

For degree programs, mature applicants are considered on an individual basis for meeting non-course specific credits, generally stated as a number of 4U or 4M courses in addition to the course specific courses that are listed as required.
